Spring is here!

My visits to the stable have been few and far-between lately, as you can probably tell by my lack of posts. I'm so excited for spring and then summer so I can start spending more of my time with Rocky again. I haven't ridden him in months, and I'm a little bit (okay, a lot) nervous about getting on him for the first time again. I just know he'll be full of energy which will be converted to naughtiness as soon as I'm in the saddle.

Andrea and her girls came down to visit today. They helped me groom Rocky and they fed him almost an entire bag of carrots in record time - he was having a hard time chewing one bite before two more bites were being offered. Like any other pony, Rocky is not one to turn down a treat. I didn't get any pictures of the girls with Rocky because I was preoccupied with making sure he was behaving, but after we put him away, Taco showed up (to get his share of the carrots, of course).

UPDATE on the baby llama: I found out a few weeks ago that the baby llama is in fact a little girl. Her name is Dolly and she was born on one of those bitter cold days in January. The mother was not caring for her at all, and luckily they found her and brought her inside before she froze to death (the tips of her ears DID freeze off though, so she has short little ears). She was getting bottle fed several times a day and throughout the night. Now she's big and strong and living in a stall of her own. She roams the barn during the day time as long as there aren't any horses out, and at night there's always at least one cat sharing her stall with her. Pretty cool. I don't know if she'll eventually join the other llamas or if she'll always be 'special'.
